Apple Picking at Eckert's!

On Tuesday, we went apple picking with the WUMCHA moms and kids...we had a blast playing, learning about how apples grow, petting goats, riding on the wagon, actually picking apples (reach up, twist, pull down), then drinking some apple cider.

Hot Air Balloon Race in St. Louis!

Last Friday and Saturday (Sept 16th and Sept 17) were the balloon races in St. Louis.

Friday night was the "balloon glow." Chad was a good sport to roll Huxley up and down many hills to get there, but it was  soo great!  Every few moments an air-gun would sound and all the balloons would light up!

Note: Hux has his ears covered because he was scared of the "dragons breathing fire."  A little loud, but seems like the wrong sense to cover up.

Then at 4:30 on Saturday-the balloon race BEGAN!  Alas, there were some strong winds, so about five balloons went down in the woods, never to rise again...watch for them!

I kept rooting for this balloon to make it, but alas-it got trapped like the others!

This one I rooted for did manage to avoid disaster!

Our favorite from the night before-advertising Beemster Cheese-nice guy holding down the balloon talked to us about driving the balloon here from Connecticut.  Makes me sad for the 5 balloons who only had about 5-10 minutes in the air before being sucked into the trees-a lot of work for little gain.

Hux at the Beach of North Carolina!

The air was breezy, the sun was just hidden over clouds but it was much lovelier than these pictures make it seem.  Hux was at the beach four times in a week and ate yogurt all the time!  We were in North Carolina from Friday Sept  2nd until Sept 10th (I was in California at a sales meeting from Tuesday until Friday so Hux had a great time without me!).

Papa and Hux were playing in a little pool-good times!
