The Arch & City Museum with Becky, Alex & Amelia

On Sunday, we went to the Arch (or officially the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial).
I love looking at the construction photos-amazing how it was built!

The shape of the arch changed from more of a circular arch to an arch made in the way a chain hangs-Hux here adjusts the chain (oh no the arch is off!)

We're at the top of the arch-yay (Chad refuses to go).

We made it all 630 feet in the air!

Good thing we went to the arch early.  They opened both sides up for President's weekend (one side has been closed since the fall whenever we've been there) -and the line for security was out the door when we left at 11:15.  We headed for the City Museum as it was listed in the 1,000 Things to Do in the US book and in Popular Science so Alex & Becky HAD to go!  Chad too had never been...

Again-the roof-insane!  It's closed for the season but you can see the carousel Hux & I went on last time, the giant preying mantis on the top left that we walked toward, the bus that Hux sat in and 'drove' while Mommy tried not to thinking about her dislike of heights etc!  See our earlier City Museum post here.

Look at the wall in the corner behind Hux--it's made out of old printer blocks.  They are so cool up close!

Chad and Hux had a great time checking out all the mosaic tile!

Also-crawling through the HUGE whale!

They played pirate ship...

 They climbed everywhere!

Look at the water tank that fills up, starts to drip...

...and then dumps!

Alex saw the sign for "human hamster wheel," and he and Chad had to try it!

Hux wanted to try it too!

Hux really wanted to show Daddy the indoor ball pit!

He slide down the eel/snake...

...and climbed over to go under the railroad again!

On the other side, Daddy and Hux found a Big Boy.

Later-in the crazy carnival area, Mama spied the Midwest Spatula Museum-awesome!

Then Hux started to slide!

After about 20 minutes of slideing, Daddy was rather tired.  Behind him and Hux are all these old pencils (there is a HUGE pencil for walking across on the other side-but I like these as they are displayed).

We went down into the 'caves' and you can see up to the top of the building!

Alex and Baby Amelia & Hux and Chad climbed down into some other caves by the trees.

Later Chad and Hux climbed up the big tree and slid down it.

The museum is truly AWESOME -and even more fun to capture as I try out different features of my camera.

Finally, at the end of our visit Alex went outside to crawl through the crazy decor, Hux and Chad played in the outdoor ball pits, and Becky, Sarah & Amelia hung out and ate snacks indoors -everyone got to be a kid!

Saturday at the Science Center with Becky, Alex & Amelia

Friends Becky and Alex and daughter Amelia came to visit us in St. Louis and drop off the baby stuff of ours they had borrowed in preparation for Baby Trilo's eminent arrival.  So we headed off to the Science Museum on Saturday.

Alex and Hux check out the T-Rex...

Alex, Becky & Baby Amelia play by the rules and touch, but don't attempt to feed, the Triceratops.

Alex checked out the Blue Angel on display (that was new!).

Hux and Daddy figure out how to hurricane-proof a house!

I love this oversized "Mousetrap!"

Randomly, a dental fair was happening in the basement.  It was sponsored by...Delta Dental and the Dental Theatre we visited a few weeks ago!  Here Hux knocks down the tiger's teeth to win a prize...not sure what message this sends about oral hygiene, but we got one of those magnetic write, then pull up the top film & it disappears pads as a prize!

Hux went right up to the dentist bear and gave him a hug-no hesitation.

He watched the other kids pulling on the dino's tail and had fun doing it himself.

Finally-some excellent tooth brushing practice-great job Hux!
