We arrived early (and got free on-street parking!)...
This is the Peabody Opera House in downtown St. Louis.
We thought this was the North Entrance where we were supposed to pick up our tickets. Alas, this was the VIP entrance, but they led us back to the main entrance like the 'normal folk' we are :)
Look Uncle Ben, I'm Oscar the Grouch-your favorite!
There was a playzone area to take these fun pictures and some of the characters danced and sang. Hux watched the characters and then turned to me and asked, "Is it over?" Poor thing-thought that was it all over, and we hadn't even gotten to our seats yet :).
Finally, we made it to our seats-great seats as you can tell!
Yay!-the gang's all here! Notice again-great seats from our view
(plus, the camera takes these great shots!)
Hux was enthralled!
The plot-a new music teacher comes to Sesame Street (a live actress with a great voice!), but her instruments haven't shown up. However, she tells us that you can make music with anything...so the gang all tries to find musical instruments to give her...
Cookie Monster's cookie jar makes a great rumba noise maker!
The monsters discovered that their feet are great instruments
(here with some fun florescent dancing shoe partners).
Elmo consults his goldfish...and the magic shade with dancing man...whose wacky dancing finally produced a frying pan and wooden spoon as music makers (have I mentioned I find Elmo incredibly annoying? I do...thus he only got one picture).
Hux at intermission enjoying his bowl of pretzels (or feeling the pain of Elmo belatedly is my theory). We were surprised that there was an intermission, but when they broke out the huge bunch of Elmo balloons(which Big Bird told us later to put under our seats so we could all see the show) -we realized the reason for intermission.
The best/worst was "the hustle" number performed by Bert and Ernie (because they were blowing into open bottles and that sounds like the hustle train engine sound).
It was so funny to watch Sesame Street characters perform classic 70's moves.
Hux kept asking why Mommy was laughing so hard...
Then we traveled back to the 1950's for Big Bird's Rockin' Robin rendition -Bird Bird's musical instrument is that he will 'tweet' for the music teacher anytime she wants.
The count's gift-the number of the day "8" that sings a high falsetto 8
(I'm sure all my music teacher friends would love that!)
Oscar the Grouch will bang on his tin can/make music via garbage as his gift to the music teacher.
Finally, the musical finale with all the 'found' instruments...
...but of course the truck with the instruments shows up at the end of the number.
Look at the Sesame Street band! Hurrah!
