January-Pirates & Snowballs & Babies-Oh My!

On Friday we went to the Museum of Transportation with WUMCHA.  Alas, I forgot my new awesome camera so this is the only shot you get.  Hux again-loving the pirate outfit -but now he's swabbing the decks.  Argh matey!

Saturday we went out to the Pancake House as usual.  I decided to try the Apple Baby-not as good as I had hoped but looked impressive.

Then we went to Babies 'R Us to look around, and Hux tried out the Spidey 'copter.

Then we took Daddy to the Butterfly House.  Hux was slightly less intimidated by the butterflies this time, but did insist we speed around the greenhouse until we got to the end-with the chrysalises.  I was really impressed when we walked in that he immediately pointed out the picture of the "Owl Butterfly."  We had come in October when there were a ton of Owl Butterflies, and he remembered what they were called!

Daddy and Hux played in the snow in the playground by the Butterfly House while Mommy waited in the car.  They came back to the car loaded down with snowballs to play with--in the bathtub!

Here's Hux-a little chilly after a few snowballs in the bath!

That night, we were lucky enough to attend the Mallinckrodt Institute Holiday Party (lovely that it is in January once all the chaos of the holidays is over!).  This year they had it at Kemoll's, Top of the Met-which has been a restaurant there since 1927.  It was 42 floors up and overlooked the Arch--a truly amazing view with great Italian food!  Hux stayed with his friend Drew for a few hours while we had a great time!  Since the arch wouldn't photograph well at dinner (in the darkness with thick glass), here's a look at it from the sculpture gardens as we drove past to pick up Hux.

Finally, we ended the weekend with a Big Siblings' class for Hux.  He was a little overwhelmed being the only boy (there were three girls, all older than he was, as his classmates).  We watched a silly video, made a picture frame, practiced holding, feeding and burping the baby, then took a tour of the maternity ward.  Considering the class was at his normal naptime, he hung in there quite well until we put him in the car to drive Daddy to the airport -he promptly conked out.
