Contemporary Art Museum Playdate

The Contemporary Art Museum was a measly 45 minute walk in the St. Louis heat at 9:15am, but we trekked there nonetheless (I thought-it's only 5 minutes by car, how far could it be...okay it was a little far). So000 worth the trip though...
We walked inside the lovely, air-conditioned space and there was a fabulous spread of danish, muffins, bagels etc-WOW! Then, a St. Louis artist who has been exhibited in NY and internationally had a craft for the kids to do-decorate a box with a smile-because art is about evoking emotions regardless of language, and smiles do the same thing-awesome huh?

This is Hux's finished creation-a brilliant post-modern tribute to faces, smiles, what we really say when we communicate, sunshine and happiness etc (at least that's my read...others-comment away?!)

Then we went to the upstairs room and did kid's yoga-AWESOME! Great fun poses with animal names (not just Downward Dog) and then the instructor read a book about flying and had the kids do similar poses.

Hux is a natural...:). Downstairs to get a great art poster for $1 and check out a really fascinating sculpture display that mimicked Goya and Matisse by Folkert de Jong. Although I didn't take any picture, the CAM website about the exhibit is awesome; check it out HERE.

I also felt proud about my ability to talk intelligently with the docents about Goya because of my trip to Spain (yeah Art in Spain trip- Mary Jane, Laura, Sally & Sophie!)

Tomorrow-round two of music and playgrounds in Tower Grove.
