Two Days of Water Play!

On Wednesday, Hux and I again went with the Hip Mamas group to hear music and play at the playground/water works. Here Hux is attempting to patiently wait until he can stop listening to the brass musicians (who were excellent but sometimes a bit loud for Hux's 'sensitive' ears-the same ears that hear him scream repeatedly for now reasons sometimes...hmm...).

The lovely musicians in the even lovelier Palm House-lots of kids clearly! I loved that the musicians played patriotic pieces, a James Bond number and a few other crowd favorites.
Finally-time to run around splashing (see last week for what that looks like-I didn't feel like I had to take more photos of Hux in water) -but really awesome playground too!

Hux clearly starting to take some climbing risks, perhaps inspired by 9-month-younger friend Lincoln who will climb without hesitation while Hux looks on, warily weighing his options.

When I discussed this with a mom today, she joked that Hux's cautious ways would make him the voluntary designated driver in high school for all his friends. Of course, Hux would have to be invited to the party first, but here's to hoping he'll be both popular and cautious later on :)!

So today was my first outing with WUMCHA (pronounced wuumm-chaa) -the women's group for Wash U Medical Staff-soo great to have a built in network of women who understand the unique stress of doctors' lives!

We drove to this amazing rec center that had morning hours just for toddlers -both a huge playground with slide, swings and see-saw IN THE WATER (no pictures of that because Hux needed to be a bit more supervised and camera and water do not go hand in hand) -and the splashpad you see below. Check out the fun snake and pelican spouting water on the top right-"cool!"
This little dragon turned into a spray gun when aimed the right direction-v. "cool!"

So now I'm really tired, but happy having met lots of great moms and running around. I bet Hux's nap is going to last a loong time (at least I hope) with all the water play today!
